Tara is 47 years old.  She was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer in April 2018.  She is a Sub-Para for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.  Tara’s has not been able to work and has no short- term disability so her daughter has been financially supporting her.  “Being diagnosed with cancer has been challenging mentally, physically, socially and financially”.  Tara is constantly worrying about finances and daughter and id not concentrating on recovery.  “This assistance will make a tremendous difference in her life.”

Cynthia is a 43 year old single mother of three.  She was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in May 2108.  Due to her treatment schedule, she had to reduce her hours at work.  “This is a stressful time trying to maintain a safe and stable home for my kids”.  Her job is labor intensive and she hopes she will continue to tolerate and respond well to the treatments.  Cynthia is keeping a positive attitude and stays encouraged and hopeful at all times.

Charlotte is 64 years old.  She was diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer in October 2107 in her right breast.  In 2008, Charlotte was diagnosed with breast cancer in her left breast and under went treatment.  Her mammograms had been negative but in 2017, she had breast pain and found a mass.  “This was a different cancer” as this time she underwent numerous surgeries and treatment.  “As you try to fight to survive, you don’t think of the expenses you are incurring”.

Diana is a 45 year old mother of one.  She was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Breast Cancer in 2017.  Diana is very proud of her daughters accomplishments in high school and her goals for her future.  She has always had low income and struggles to make ends meet. Her goals are to finish her treatments and be around for a very long time.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

She is 58 years old.  In June 2018, she was diagnosed with metastatic bone cancer; a recurrence of an original breast cancer diagnoses in 2003.   She has no short-term disability and her pay has been cut in half.  She is behind in bill and any assistance she receives will be helpful.

Chandel is 45 years old.  In December 2017, she was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma in Situ; the cancer was said to be in the milk ducts. “Although the nurse informed me that it was the earliest stage they knew of, it still took me to a place I would never wish on anyone”. Chandel underwent surgery, chemo, and radiation and will receive infusions every three weeks for up to a year.  Chandel is employed full time, and is grateful for short-term disability but it only pays 50% of her pay.  She has not been able to pay some of her bills and any assistance provided will be greatly appreciated.

She was diagnosed with grade 3 Invasive Breast Cancer in November 2017.  The night of her sisters funeral, she fund a lump in her breast; she immediately went to her doctor when she got home.  Needless to say she was devastated when she was told she had breast cancer.  After an emotional family meeting, Tiney and her children accepted the diagnoses and prepared for the treatment.  The financial hardship is overwhelming and she has had to rely on her children and credit cards for financial support.  Tiney is greatly appreciative for any assistance.

Glenna is 64 years old. She was diagnosed with stage 2 Invasive Ductal Breast Cancer in September 2017.  With the colder temperatures, her electric bill has increased and her disability check is barely making ends meet at this time.

Lesley is a 43 year old mother of two. She was diagnosed with stage 2 Breast Cancer in November 2017 and began getting chemo and radiation therapy in December. After raising two young men as a single mother, Lesley was feeling a sense of accomplishment that she was able to keep the roof over their heads for 16 years.  She was also feeling a sense of financial security and even bought herself her first brand new car. “Life was going great!”  However, life stopped as she knew it when she found “the lump”.  Lesley is self employed and has been unable to work and any assistance will help ease some of the stress of not working while helping her focus on healing.

Rebecca is 28 years old. She was diagnosed with stage 2 Invasive Breast Cancer in September 2017. “A lot of my life has been put on hold including starting a family”. Due to the higher risk of Rebecca getting sick as a first grade teacher, she was forced to go on disability. This has been hard on her and her husband as they relied on her extra income. "We are trying to make things work but a little help would make ease of things for us greatly”.

Katie is a 40 year old mother of two. She was diagnosed with stage 3 Invasive Breast Cancer in September 2017.  Her fiancé and the father of her kids passed away in April 2017. Katie has a limited support system and has no car so she relies on friends or private pay transportation. Balancing treatment for Breast Cancer while caring for two active children has been challenging. Katie could catch up and get many things back on track with any financial assistance. “I would be so grateful and my boys would give you big hugs and kisses beyond a shadow of a doubt”.

Aliesha is a 33 year old mother of five. She was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in June 2017. She was sad, angry and scared after the diagnoses. Aliesha was an in-home daycare provider but had to stop because of the chemo treatments took a toll on her body. Its hard to pays bills on one income and any assistance would be appreciated.

43 year old mother of two. She was diagnosed with stage 2 Invasive Breast Cancer in June 2017. She recently had two friends pass away from cancer that were younger then her. She went for a check up and told her doctor “please check me out fully” because she was truly scared. Her doctor told her it was only natural to feel this way. She went for a mammogram the next day and that is where her journey begins.  She was working as a STNA and as much as she loves working and caring for others, she is not able to work and is having a hard time dealing and adapting to her new situation. She tires to be strong but she is torn, confused and depressed inside. She is finding support at the Gathering Place.

She was diagnosed with stage 3 Invasive Ductal Breast Cancer in November 2017.  Two days after her one year wedding anniversary, Brandy had a biopsy and received the news from her doctor she had breast cancer. Genetic testing showed she is a carrier for BRCA1; she and her husband had been trying to conceive prior to her diagnoses. “After treatment I will try to get my life back”. Their current financial situation is definitely day to day.
